BREAK UP SOCIAL
OTAUTAU PRESBYTERIAN SUNDAY SCHOOL. The break-up social and presentation of prizes took place in the Presbyterian Hall on Monday evening, when the building was well filled. The function was presided over by Mrs Bickerstaff (the suj>erintendent), who apologized for the unavoidable absence of the Rev. J. B. Bickerstaff. An excellent programme of items was submitted and after the presentation of prizes a hearty vote of thanks to the per- j formers was proposed by Mr Burnett, this I being carried with acclamation. I Mrs Bickerstaff presented the prizes as ' follows:—Special Prizes—Prize Essay, j • John Knox,” G. Rowan; Registrar Young | Worshippers’ League, Frank Thomson; Mr I Bickerstaff’s prize for attending Young Worshippers’ League continuously for seven I years—Douglas Walker; Mr Bickerstaff’s prize for attending Young Worshippers’ League for eight years—Thomas Jellyman; highest marks for Catechism and Golden Text, Rose Jellyman. Standard VI: Boys—Alan Liddell, Geoffrey Rowan and Albert Laing; second for Golden Text, Geoffrey Rowan and Alan Liddell. Girls—Second prize for Catechism —Audrey Roberts, Molly Chilton and Isabel Smellie. Attendance—First-class, Rose Jellyman. Audrey Roberts, Molly Chilton, Isabel McGregor and Isabel Smellie. Boys— G. Infants. —Attendance, first-class, Winnie I Rowan, Daphne Brown and Dorothy Jellyman; second-class, Pearl Browning. All of these infants were awarded a prize. Bayswater Sunday School. The Rev. J. B. Bickerstaff presented the following prizes at the afternoon service in the church: Senior Girls—Progress, Aliena Collie; diligence (Mrs Kennedy’s prize), Jessamine Burnett; and May Collie; senior boys, Arthur Collie, John May (Mrs Kennedy’s special prize), Eric Collie and Roland Kennedy.
