A PROMISING ATHLETE
MISS V. NICHOL’S SUCCESS. On Saturday afternoon Miss V. Nichol, Gore, attended the Otago Cycling Club’s athletic and cycling meeting, competing in the 100 yards ladies’ handicap race and ladies’ invitation race 100 yards. In the former Miss Nichol had a handicap of 8 yards and won comfortably in the good time of 11 3-ssecs. She also won the invitation race by 5 yards, putting up an excellent performance by defeating many of the most prominent competitors in ladies’ events in Otago. It is Miss Nichol’s intention to compete at the Otago championsips and possibly in the New Zealand championship meeting. Mr G. C. Hamilton, who accompanied her to Dunedin, states that those present at the gathering were very favourably impressed with Miss Nichol’s running and predict that she should meet with success at the more important athletic sports gatherings.
