DRUNK IN CHARGE

MOTORIST FINED AND LICENSE CANCELLED. (Per United Press Association.) Christchurch, November 12. “Defendant is a very respectable resident of Dunedin. He came up to Christchurch for the races and this is the result,” said Sub-Inspector Fitzpatrick to-day when John William Murdoch pleaded guilty to being intoxicated while in charge of a motor car in Oxford Terrace on Saturday and with failing to produce his drivers’ license. The penalty imposed was a fine of £lO and the cancellation of defendant’s license, in default of payment of the fine 14 days’ hard labour was ordered. On the charge of failing to produce his drivers’ license defendant was convicted and discharged.
