While a Hamilton resident was motoring through the Mamaku bush a few days ago he saw two cock pheasants fighting on the road. So engrossed were the birds in their encounter that they made no effort to make way for the approaching car, which had to be pulled up to avoid running over them. The pheasants were driven off the road by the motorist, but they showed reluctance to go.
