REDUCED TO THE RANKS
PUNISHMENT FOR DESERTION. Having been found guilty of desertion by a district court-martial, Corpl. William James Cameron, Ist Battalion Seaforth Highlanders, who held a special certificate of education, was at Aidershot recently reduced to the ranks and sentenced to 56 days’ imprisonment with hard labour. Cameron pleaded he had suffered from Ptomaine poisoning. Afterwards he took a job in civil life and surrendered wearing civilian clothes.
