PRINCE IN AFRICA
ESCORT OF NATIVE CANOES. RECEPTION AT ENTEBBE. Rugby, October 15. Probably the finest spectacle which the Prince of Wales has yet witnessed in East Africa was provided by 1500 Sesse natives who met the vessel on which the Prince crossed Lake Victoria a quarter of a mile from Entebbe on the lakeside of the capital of Uganda. The islanders formed an escort with their canoes, accompanying the ship to the pier at Entebbe where the Prince was welcomed by the Governor Sir William Gowers, the heads of the Government and the leading residents. The programme for the entertainment of the Prince in Uganda has been arranged to allow full opportunity for him to see the country. There will be only a few official functions, all of which are to be disposed of in one day.—-British Official Wireless.
