SHOTS FIRED

FUSILLADE FROM MOTOR CAR. MELBOURNE SENSATION. (Rec. 10.10 p.m.) Melbourne, October 11. Events march with uncanny quickness in this city. The latest sensation following on the heels of the bomb outrages is the firing of shots at a house by a party in a car. Late last night a young man was walking home along Toorak road and states that he saw a car pull up by a house which is near a fashionable quarter in South Yarra. Three shots were fired quickly followed by the sounds of splintered glass. The car moved off and when turning a corner into a nearby street two more shots were fired. A police patrol was soon on the scene and found outside the house another car believed to have been stolen. It was unoccupied but contained a dressing gown and a bottle of beer. The lady of the house was unable to throw any light on the occurrence.—Australian Press Association.
