FRENCH DECREE
MOTORISTS FINED ON THE SPOT.
AUTHORITY TO ROAD POLICE. Paris, October 10. A decree has been issued authorizing road police to collect on the spot motoring fines ranging from 12/- to 24/-. The offender signs an acknowledgment of conviction. The regulations provide for an ordinary prosecution where other than pecuniary punishment is involved or damages or in cases where an offender has been previously convicted of a similar offence. Otherwise the culprit has the choice of a fine on the spot or a Court hearing.—Australian Press Association.
