LADIES’ MATCH AT GORE. BALCLUTHA v. GORE. Seven ladies from the Balclutha Clut? journeyed to Gore on Thursday and played a return match. They were met and entertained at luncheon by the Gore ladies, and in the afternoon a most enjoyable time was experienced. Gore won five out of the seven matches played as follows:—Mrs Lyall beat Mrs Houston 3 and 2; Mrs Poyn? ter lost to Mrs Sinclair 6 and 4; Miss Allan beat Mrs Aitken 6 and 4; Mrs Thompson lost to Mrs Piller 7 and 5; Mrs McDonald lost to Mrs J. Brown 6 and 4; Miss Noble lost to Mrs Ritchie 6 and 5; Mrs Hislop lost to Mrs J. A. Brown 5 and 3. Before leaving on the return journey, Miss Allan, on behalf of Balclutha ladies, thanked the Gore ladies for the very pleasant time experienced and suggested that the clubs should endeavour to make these matches on the respective links an annual fixture and the idea was warmly approved. Mrs Aitken (deputy captain) suitably replied on behalf of the Gore ladies.
