HON. ELSIE MACKAY’S ESTATE. DISCUSSION IN PARLIAMENT. London, July 12. Tn the House of Commons Mr Churchill informed Major L. Hore-Belisha (Labour >, that he would not give the House an opportunity for discussing Lord Inchcape's gift to the nation. Major Hore-Belisha: Without detracting from Lord Inchcape’s generosity, Captain Hinchcliffe’s widow says she had a sort of moral claim against the state. The Speaker: That is not a matter for Mr Churchill. Major Hore-Belisha: The State benefited from rhe accident. Surely it is within Mr Churchill’s power to make provision for the widow or permit the House of Commons to discuss the desirability of doing so. The Speaker: Mr Churchill does not control the business of the House.—Australian Press Association—United Service. Lord Inchcape has made a gift to the nation of the estate of his daughter, the Hon. Elsie Mackay, who was lost with Captain Hinchcliffe in an attempt to cross the Atlantic by air. The estate is reported to be in the vicinity of £500,000.
