A FLIGHTY HORSE

WHEN KING WENT HUNTING. FARMERS AT THE PALACE. London, June 14. The Australian farmers, who are touring England, were given an audience by King George and Queen Mary, at Buckingham Palace to-day. The informality of the reception delighted the delegates. The Dominion Secretary, Mr Amery, introduced the delegates. Their Majesties shook hands all round. King George recalled his visit to Australia in 1891.

One delegate recalled that he participated in a kangaroo hunt on Bowman’s station in South Australia.

His Majesty rode a spirited horse, that hart not been ridden for some time. The horse’s fatness caused the saddle to slip. The delegate, then a youth, rode beside his Majesty, in order to quieten the animal. “So you are the man responsible for sticking me on that flighty horse. I am especially delighted and indebted to you,” exclaimed the King. “A good deal of water has flowed under the bridge since then, and neither of us is looking any younger; but I still recall the pleasures of that hunt.” —Sun Special.
