MAN’S LIFE SAVED. Temora, June 14. Austin Meale, proprietor of the local garage, had a narrow escape from death when fumes of a burning mattress overcame him. He fell asleep smoking a cigarette which fell on the mattress and ignited it. A boarder sleeping in the next room heard Meale moaning and rushed to his assistance. He dragged him from the room and had considerable difficulty in restoring consciousness. The doctor said that if the rescue was delayed another two minutes Meale would have been asphyxiated.— Sydney Sun-
