NIGHTCAPS DOG TRIALS

PRESENTATION OF PRIZES. (From Our Correspondent.) On Monday evening Mr W. J. A. McGregor presided at a smoke concert to finalize the Nightcaps dog trials, when there was a large attendance and a very pleasant evening was spent. Mr Thomas Prendergast, who has officiated as judge at the trials off and on for the past 25 years, was presented with a cheque for £25 in recognition of his valuable services. The cups and trophies were also presented to the successful competitors by Mr W. J.’ A. McGregor. The following were the winners of the special prizes: Sheep guessing, (first day), T. Reidie; (third day) F. Matheson; (fifth day) J. Searle; (sixth day) J. G. Johnston. Youngest competitor, Master Leslie Purdue. Oldest competitor, John Doull (Avondale). Fourth prize in championship head (J. B. Purdue’s silver cup), J. R. Anderson (Kauana). Winner of maiden huntaway (W. J. A. McGregor’s medal), F. Matheson (Burwood). Winner in class II (cup, donated by the Brewers’ Association), J. S. Waddell (Waikaka Valley). Fifth prize in championship huntaway, J. S. Nelson (Dipton). Fourth prize in championship huntaway, C. McEriane (Ranfurly). Sixth prize in championship huntaway, J. W. Falconer (South Otago). Maiden head (Reginald Mackinnon Trust Cup and medal), T. Fraser (Beaumont).
