RIVERSDALE NOTES. SATURDAY’S HOCKEY. On Saturday when the Wendon hockey ladies played the Riversdale team at Riversdale the former were successful in defeating the home players by one goat to nil. Riversdale had slightly the better of the game throughout, and were unfortunate in not equalizing the score with the visitors. Miss Bond scored the goal for the winning team. The game was a fast one, and very interesting to watch, while the standard of play was quite good. Mr Caldwell gave entire satisfaction as referee. THE GIRL GUIDES. Last Wednesday night the Riversdale Girl Guides held a very enjoyable social and dance in the Drill Hall, Riversdale, when quite a good crowd of patrons of dancing and music were present. The purpose of the function was to augment the funds necessary for the Girl Guides to secure proper uniforms. No doubt the inclemency of the weather deterred many who would otherwise have been present from venturing out of doors, but nevertheless the evening was quite a success. Music for the dancing was ably supplied by Miss Cheyne, Mrs Ibbotson and Messrs J. Curry and P. Shallard.
Musical items and singing were interspersed in the dancing, and items were contributed as follows:—Duet, Miss Elder and Miss Tayles; violin solo, Mr R. Walker; songs, Miss Atkinson and Miss Watt. The floor was occupied by a fair number of dancers, while the older folk and nondancers spent an enjoyable evening on the stage playing cards. A few Girl Guides from Gore were present. An excellent supper was provided by the Girl Guides and ladies of the Riversdale district. Mr W. Ryan, jun., ably performed the duties of Master of Ceremonies.
