TOWNS DEMOLISHED
TORNADO IN AMERICA. Vancouver, June 17. At least seven were killed and the towns of Blair and Headrick demolished and farmlands three miles wide and 30 long were laid waste by a tornado on Saturday. One hundred residents of Blair were injured.— Australian Press Association. FLOODS FOLLOW RAINS. FOUR DEATHS REPORTED. (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) New York, June 17. Kansas City messages state that the southwest is threatened by steadily increasing floods following heavy rains and tornados. Four are now known to be dead and scores injured. The towns of Blair and Hendrick, Oklahoma, are virtually destroyed and homes demolished, but most of the residents fled to cellars where they were saved. Crops and live stock were wiped out, relief workers rushing to the devastated areas to aid the homeless and attempt to check the rising rivers.—Australian Press Association.
