GENERAL NOBILE

UNEXPLORED AREAS CROSSED. London, May 24. King’s Bay reports state that the northwest gale was so adverse that General Nobile was unable to carry out his full plans at the Pole. It was impossible to land because the anchor would not have held. They could not drop the Pope’s wooden commemorative cross or the Italian flag. In a wireless message at eleven in the morning they announced that they were flying over parts of North Greenland. On arriving at King’s Bay at midnight they found the city beflagged. —Australian Press Association.
