WAIKAKA NOTES

FAREWELL TO MR WATT. (From Our Correspondent.) Miss Kathleen Hudson has returned to Dunedin. Miss K. Asher is spending a holiday in ■Dunedin. Miss E. Gardyne is at present on holidays. Miss M. Dripps has returned from Invero argil.. Misses Green have returned from Invercargill. Misses Fergusqn and Benfell have returned from their holidays. On Monday evening last the friends of Mr Reginald Watt gathered at the residence of Mr R. H. Gardyne to bid farewell on the eve of his departure from the district. A very pleasant time was spent in games and music. At a suitable interval Mr O. Fleming, in an appropriate speech on behalf of those present, asked Reginald to accept a small memento as a token of the high esteem by which he was held in the district. Speeches were also made by Mr G. Peterson (on behalf of the Bible Class), Mr H. Rankin (on behalf of the Football Club) and Mr R. Gardyne. Mr R. Watt suitably replied. After supper had been handed round games were again resumed and continued till midnight. Before the singing of Auld Lang Sync, Mr R. Rankin proposed a hearty vote of thanks to Mr' and Mrs Gardyne for the use of their residence and the pleasant time they had given those present. Those present were Mesdames Gardyne, L. Turnbull, Asher, Green, Dripps, Gardyne, Byars, Turnbull (2), Paterson (2), McEwan (2), Messrs Gardyne, Watt, Paterson (2), Turnbull, Roy, Fleming (2), Byars, Swanson, Cunningham, Asher, Corcoran (2), Rankin (3). Moyer, Matheson, Mackay, Mains. Graham, Ballantyne, Jane, Donaldson.
