EASTERN DISTRICT GAMES. WYNDHAM HIGH SCHOOL v. H. AND J. SMITH’S. Exceptionally cold and showery weather prevailed during the match, Wyndham High School v. H. and J. Smith’s, which took place on the Wyndham grounds on Wednesday. H. and J. Smith’s, for its third match this season, displayed an improvement on recent form, but the superior combination of the local team told its tale and the visitors were defeated by three goals to nil. Two goals were registered by Wyndham during the first half of the game and one in the second half. Misses A. Robinson, W. Traynor and M. Farrington being the scorers. Miss White held the whistle. The following were the teams: —Wyndham High School: Misses E. Lawrence, L. Humphries, 1. Strang, M. O’Brien, E. Crosbie, G. Dermody, E. Lindsay, M. Farrington, W. Traynor, J. Howe and A. Robinson. H. and J. Smith’s: Misses M. Cox, 1. Kay, E. Lamborn, M. O’Neill, F. Nelson, T. Whittingham, H. Stark, Z. Fitzgerald, M. McDonald and D. Hamilton. HIGH SCHOOL v. EDENDALE. High School A beat Edendale, at Edendale, by 5 goals to 3. HIGH SCHOOL B v. WYNDHAM. The match, High School B against Wyndham, at Gore, resulted in a draw, two goals each. MATAURA LADIES’ CLUB. GENERAL MEETING. (From Our Correspondent.) A general meeting of the Mataura Ladies' Hockey Club was held in the Coronation Hall on Wednesday, Mr J. W. Aitken (president) occupying the chair. Correspondence was received and dealt with. An invitation was received from the Hedgehope Hockey Club for a friendly match at Hedgehope on June 4. The action of the secretary and Miss Edgar in replying declining the invitation on account of the seven-a-side tourney at Gore on that date was approved of on the motion of Missea Munro and Downes. A statement of receipts and expenditure in connection with the annual ball was presented by the secretary (Miss Jean Curtin) and was considered satisfactory under the inclement weather conditions that prevailed for the occasion. A donation of £1 15/-, the balance of its funds, was received from the Mataura Association Football Club, and it was resolved to reply thanking the club for its kindly action. At the hockey match on Wednesday, at which £1 1/- was taken at the gate, it was resolved that the secretary write conveying the thanks of the club to Messrs C. McDowell and A. J. Grant for their assistance. It was decided that two teams be entered for the seven-a-side tourney to be held at Gore on June 4. It was further decided on the motion of Miss Thorn and Mrs Taylor that the grounds be closed on May 30 on the occasion of the A grade fixture between Hokonui and Mataura. The monthly meetings were fixed for Fridays instead of Wednesdays as previously arranged. Some discussion took place regarding costumes and it was decided on the motion of Miss Thorn, seconded by Miss Downes, that | members who have not yet paid any costume charge be charged 2/- for use of same and that no further refund be paid on the costumes. Accounts amounting to 17/6 were passed for payment. The usual compliment to the chair terminated the meeting.
