100 LIVES LOST. ’QUAKE IN JAPAN. New York, May 15. News from Manchester, New Hampshire, states that a radio message received here, believed to be from Twaiki, Japan, reports an earthquake in the remote Nishifutamo region. At least 100 lives were lost. Communication is cut off.—Australian Press Association. EARTHQUAKE IN ECUADOR. MANY BUILDINGS DAMAGED. Guayaquil (Ecuador), May 15. Many buildings were damaged by an earthquake. The streets were littered with portions of structures. People fled from the buildings in terror.—Australian Press Association.
