RUNAWAY MARRIAGE

BRIDEGROOM DISAPPEARS. (Per United Press Association.) Auckland, March 27. Basil Stanley, whose runaway marriage, formed the subject of newspaper articles yesterday, has disappeared. He was to have been taken back to Hawaii by the Aorangi but when the vessel sailed no trace of him could be found. His lady friend was on the Aorangi when the ship sailed but gave no explanation of Stanley’s disappearance. POLICE TAKING NO ACTION. Auckland, March 27. Stanley, the American, was seen in Queen street to-day, but the police are taking no action. The Customs’ duty is to report to the Minister of Internal Affairs that Stanley is here without a passport.
