NAVAL FUNERAL

FAMOUS ADMIRAL MOURNED. London, January 24. To a salute of nineteen minute guns, and with every flag half-masted, the late Admiral Sir J. M. de Robeck, was impressively buried at Bembridge, in the Isle of Wight. The pall-bearers were Earl Jellicoe, Sir C. E; Madden, the Hon. Sir A. Gough-Cal-thorpe, Sir O. de B. Brock and Generals Braithwaite, Milne and Halliday. The minesweeper Caterham, escorted by destroyers, conveyed the Union Jack-cov-ered coffin, on which rested the Admiral’s cocked hat and sword, from Portsmouth, where the streets were lined with mourners, including General Sir lan Hamilton and the late Admiral de Robeck’s veterans. Admiral Sir Arthur Leveson represented the King. All branches of the service were present.—A. and N.Z.
