NEED FOR RESTRAINT

MAN ARRESTED FOR MAINTENANCE ARREARS. (Per United Press Association.) Auckland, July 2. Christopher Thomas Morris, aged 45, arrested on a warrant from Dunedin alleging that he was £79 in arrears for a maintenance order in respect of his children, appeared at the Police Court. Counsel for Morris admitted the arrears and said accused came out of gaol on May 28 after serving two months in respect to a similar order. The warrants referred to the children of his wife though he had no children by her. He had three illegitimate children in Christchurch and four in Auckland while one of his lady friends expected to present him with another. Mr McKean, S.M., remarked that accused seemed to have numerous obligations and suggested that Morris needed to be kept under restraint. He accordingly remanded him until July 16 on bail of £5O.
