The oil tank steamer Malistan arrived from Wellington at 4 p.m. yesterday to discharge about 500 tons bulk oil into the -bain tanks. The steamer City of Khartoum sailed at 9 a.m. yesterday for Beauty Point (Tasmania). i'nere will be no major shipping movements at Bluff for the next few days. The Calm, which has been delayed in the north, is not due at Bluff until Monday next. She is to sail the same day for Wanganui, via ports, after discharge and loading. I’he Moeraki, from Melbourne, left Lyttelton at 5 p.m. yesterday for Dunedin and Bluff. She is timed to leave Dunedin at 3 p.m. on Monday, and is due here on Tuesday, sailing on Wednesday afternoon for Melbourne. The Karetu is to leave Dunedin on Monday for Oamaru and is due at Bluff on Wednesday evening, sailing at the end of the week for Sydney direct. She has a quantity of coal for discharge and will load general cargo. The lonic is at present running two days behind scheduled time, the date of movements being: Due Lyttelton Thursday last, sails to-morrow for Port Chalmers; due Port Chalmers July 4, sails July 11; due Bluff July 11, sails July 16; due Lyttelton again July 18, sails July 21; due at Wellington July 22, sailing July 27 for London. She has 1,200 tons of general cargo to discharge at Bluff and will load dairy produce, frozen meat and general cargo. The Kaiwarra is to load coal at Newcastle early next week for Bluff, Timaru and Oamaru. She is due here on July 11. The Wingatui has been fixed to load at Auckland about Wednesday next for Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin and Bluff. She is due here about July 14. The West Nivaria is due at Dunedin today from Lyttelton to continue discharging general cargo, case oil and lumber from Pacific Coast ports. She will visit Bluff next September. The Huntingdon, at present at Bluff, has frozen meat and general cargo to load. She is to sail for Liverpool about July 7. The Waihemo, from Apia, is expected to arrive at Bluff on or about July 15 with general cargo for discharge. The City of Corinth, from New York, is to arrive at Auckland on July 15. She proceeds to southern ports and is due at Bluff on August 10. The Katoa left Auckland on Wednesday evening with general cargo for discharge at Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin and Timaru. She is due at Dunedin on July 7. The Karama is not to visit New Zealand on her present trip, but will visit Australian ports only. INCOMING SAN FRANCISCO MAIL. The Union Company’s R.M.S. Tahiti, en route from San Francisco, left Rarotonga last Munday evening for Wellington and Sydney. She is due at Wellington on Monday and at Sydney on July 9. MAIMYO FROM NEW YORK. Under charter to the C. and D. Une, the is now due at Auckland from New York with case oil and general cargo. The vessel’s discharging ports are Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin and Newcastle. CARGO FROM EAST CANADA. Advice received by the New Zealand Shipping Company states that the steamer Walcheren, which loaded Canadian cargo at Cornerbrook, Sydney (Cape Breton) and Montreal, left the latter port on June 26

for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin. The vessel is due at Auckland about August 8, and at Dunedin about August 19. CARGO FROM NEW YORK. The A. and A. Line’s chartered steamer City of Carlisle was to sail from New York on June 29 with case oil and general cargo for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin and .Launceston. NEW HAMBURG-AMERICA VESSEL. The foqaJi vessel of the Albert Ballin class in the Hamburg-America Line's service to New York, via Boulogne and Southampton, made her maiden voyage across the Atlantic recently. She is a valuable addition to the Hapag fleet, and mecnamcally is similar in detail to her sister-ships. Her gross registered tonnage is 22,000, with a length of 603 ft, beam 79ft and draught 36ft. FAST PASSAGE TO MAURITIUS. News has been received stating that the Swedish iour-masied barque Beatrice, which left Melbourne on jklarcn 16 for Mauritius with general cargo, arrived there on April 24 after an excellent passage of 39 days. The Beatrice, which was iormerly known as the Britisn sailer Routenburn, is one of the finest iron sailing vessels ever constructed, and, althougn she was built 46 years ago, is in a nne state of preservation, and sun commands her reputation for speed. FOR ABERDEEN LINE. The latest British company to announce a motQr-sbip policy is tiie Aberdeen Line, the manager oi winch said, when he was in Australia recently, that the next vessel built lor the Aberdeen Line would certainly be a motor-ship. Oil fuel in steamers has been used by the large mail contracting companies lor some years, and aU the newer vessels of the P. and O. and Orient Lines are equipped for burning oil.
