BATHING BEAUTIES
PROTEST FROM WOMENS’ ORGANISATIONS. (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) Melbourne, June 15. A deputation from the Womens’ Citizens movement asked the Chief Secretary to prohibit competitions for girls in bathing suits at picture theatres. Mr Prendergast replied that in the absence of strong public opinion, and under existing law, he was unable to prevent “bathing beauty” competitions.—A. and N.Z.
