POWER BOARD RATES.

To the Editor. Sir, —In introducing a deputation to the Southland Power Board Mr Adam Hamilton, M.P., opened with “I thought, etc.” With your permission, Mr Editor, I also will have a thought, if the Southland Power Board with the assistance of Mr Adam Hamilton, M.P., is going to put the financial responsibility on to the ones that are at present paying for the electricity. (And kindly remember we, like the nonreticulated ratepayers, have to keep our coal box full). My thought is this about the luxury of electricity: The farmers are paying interest, bringing up a family and paying for the juice. If another turn of the screw, I think it will be “get out the front gate while the going is clear.” Get into town and you may get voting whether the half-holiday will be Wednesday or Saturday.—l am, etc., THOMAS W. GOODGER.
