FILM TAX
INJUNCTION AGAINST LEVY SOUGHT. (Rec. 11.30 p.m.) Sydney, June 14. Representatives of a big picture film distributors company applied to the Acting Chief Justice in High Court Chambers for an injunction restraining the State Government from levying and collecting a tax on the exhibition of picture films. A declaration was also sought that the Act under which the tax was collected was invalid. The matter was allowed to stand over until to-morrow to enable counsel for the Government to confer with the At-torney-General.—A. and N.Z.
