SURVEYORS VICTIMISED

WAGES LESS THAN MOTOR DRIVERS. Perth, June 13. The State Government’s recent appointment of six surveyors from New Zealand brought a protest from the West Australian Institute of Surveyors and the president of the New Zealand Institute states that the men accepted the positions in ignorance of the conditions prevailing in the State. The New Zealand body has been informed by the West Australian president that young surveyors here had refused positions on the salary offered which was lately reduced below the minimum paid in other States. The president said that in some instances surveyors were paid less than their motor drivers.—A. and N.Z.
