The following resolution was passed by the Chamber of Commerce at its annual meeting last evening—- “ That this chamber views with serious alarm awards made by the Arbitration Court, being firmly of opinion they impose unnecessary restrictions on the proper conduct of business and are detrimental to workers on whose behalf the awards are made and in some cases override the provisions of the Shops and Offices Act.” It was decided that copies of the resolution be forwarded to the Minister of Labour, the member for the district, and other chambers in the Dominion.
