QUEEN’S PARK CLUB. RESULT OF SATURDAY’S MATCH. There is m? doubt four-ball matches and foursomes are very popular with local golfers, this fact being emphasised very strongly by the large field which set out to contest the four-ball match on the Park on Saturday afternoon. The overhead conditions were ideal and the fairways in excellent order, but many of the greens had cut up badly under the frosts and accurate putting was well-nigh impossible. Under the circumstances partners returning to the club-house all square with . the “Colonel” or one up considered they had a good chance of heading the list, but L. J. B. Grant and W. Fordyce made no race of it, finishing six up. A. Masters and W. S. Ayson, who played on Wednesday, were three up, several pairs finishing one up. QUEEN’S PARK LADIES’ CLUB. DRAW FOR TO-DAY. The Ayson Shield matches will be played this week, Saturday being the last day in which the games may be got off. The Queen’s Park ladies have been reinforced by several members of the Invercargill Ladies’ Club, and the men ■will be set a stern task to stave off defeat. The draw is as follows: Mrs Carr v. A. Cruickshank; Mrs Israel v. Gus. Tapper; Miss M. Perrin v. W. Ayson; Miss L. Henderson v. M. Stitchbury; Mrs Georgeson v. W. Fordyce ; Miss Stout v. H. P. Fougere; Mrs Chartres v. D. French; Mrs Willett v. J. McCurdy; Mrs Clow v. J. L. Duncan; Mrs Fordyce v. A. E. Fastier; Miss Hughes v. D. Stalker; Mrs Palmer v. W. G. Tait; Mrs Tait v. P. Israel. Each man is asked to arrange the day of his match with his lady opponent between June 13 and 18 and if possible either on the Wednesday or Saturday. WILSON CUP. NAPIER DEFEATS MASTERTON. Masterton, June 12. The Masterton Golf Club was defeated by the Napier Club this week-end in the match for the Wilson Cup, which the local club has held in four challenges since winning it from the Wairarapa Club last year. Napier won by eight matches to four. The course was almost unplayable, the match being contested in a rainstorm. GOLF. THE OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP at Rotorua was won by SHAW, Wellington,— with a KRO-FLITE ball. SHAW’S aggregate of 274 is the lowest ever scored in four rounds in N.Z. The Bogey, Medal and Stroke Handicap won with KRO-FLITE. This Spalding British product is the finest ball in the world. “It lasts till it’s lost.”
