KIRK-WINDEYER CUP

NEW ZEALANDER’S MERITORIOUS PERFORMANCE. Sydney, June 10. The Sydney Morning Herald commenting on the New Zealand golfers winning the Kirk-Windeyer Cup says: “It was a meritorious performance and the visitors are likely to prove much more formidable opponents on their own links, for in Australia they have experienced trouble in accurately gauging the distance owing to the brighter light. Their defeat of such a strong team as Victoria was undoubtedly a magnificent performance. The victory will be very popular in New Zealand where the game is making rapid strides.”—A. and N.Z.

NEW SOUTH WALES TOURNAMENT. NEW ZEALANDERS NOT PROMINENT. (Rec. 10.30 p.m.) Sydney, June 10. A big field contested the open bogey match at Kensington. Bettington of New South Wales won with 2 up. Harrison with two down finished fourth, and was the only New Zealander in the first ten. Horton, Quinn, and Ross completed, but did not return cards in the qualifying rounds. The New South Wales Amateur championship w'ill be contested to-morrow at Rose Bay, when ten New Zealanders will compete.—A. and N.Z.
