THE YOUNG IDEA

LEAGUE OF NATIONS INSTRUCTION TO SCHOOL CHILDREN DECISION OF BRITISH EDUCATIONALISTS (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.) Rugby, June 9. At a conference of educational authorities from all parts of the country, presided over by Lord Eustace Percy, president of the Board of Education, a resolution was unanimously passed welcoming measures to give school children and youths a knowledge of the purpose and aims of the League of Nations. Official encouragement is thus given to the authorities and teachers who are anxious to relate the teaching of various subjects such as history and geography, to what may be called the League of Nations outlook. The Acting-President of the League of Nations Council, Herr Stresemann has appointed Sir Ernest Wilton to be chairman and member of the Saar Governing Commission until March, 1928. The appointment was made on the proposal of Signor Scialoja, rapporteur to the Council for Saar questions, and after consulting all the members of the Council, the procedure was decided upon by the Council on March 12. Sir Ernest Wilton has held a number of posts in the Far East, being for some years Foreign Chief-Inspector of the Chinese salt gabelle. He has also had experience in Central Europe as British Minister in Latvia and Estonia, British commissioner in Lithuania and member of the Teschen International Commission. —British Official Wireless.
