DAMAGES AWARDED

THROWN FROM TRAMCAR. WOMAN’S CLAIM SUCCESSFUL. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, June 10. Claiming that she had received injuries through the negligence oi the City Corporation as a result of a tramcar being suddenly started or .started before she had time to board it, Jane Gifford Laurenson sought to recover £825 damages from the Wellington City Corporation in the Supreme Court to-day. After hearing evidence the Chief Justice (Sir Charles Skerrett) gave judgment in favour of plaintiff for £525. The injuries received by plaintiff were stated to be the result of an accident in Lambton Quay on December 4, 1926, when attempting to board a tram. Plaintiff alleged that she was thrown to the ground and sustained a fracture of the neck, of the left femur and other injuries. She claimed £325 special damages, including £lOO as loss of paying guests, and £825 as general damages.
