PIPERS AND DANCERS

THE GORE CLUB. The attendance on Monday evening at the Gore Municipal bandroom was not so large as is usually the case when the monthly social of the Gore Pipers’ and Dancers’ Club is held, but despite the small attendance all present had a thoroughly enjoyable time. The programme submitted was a varied one, including ballroom and national dancing, and Pipe Band selections, and for those who so wished cards were provided. The club is doing much that is good to foster national dancing among the younger element, and a noticeable improvement is to be seen in this respect. During the evening the following dances were contributed:— Sean Triubhais, I. Symons and B. White; Irish Jig, R. Scott; Sword dance, E. Murdoch ; Sailor’s hornpipe, E. Murdoch, D. Cannon and B. White; Highland fling, J. Symons. A. Campbell and Adam Campbell; waltz clog, R. Scott. The music for the national dancing was supplied by Pipe-Ser-geant B. Parker, and for the ballroom dancing by Misses McLeod (2), Mrs Schultz (piano), Messrs Campbell and Mcßae (violin) and. Corporal R. Graham (pipes). Mr W. McGill was in charge of the floor.

A delectable supper was supplied by the ladies, and the function concluded at midnight with the singing of Auld Lang Syne and the National Anthem.
