Kilby, presided over a good attendance of members. ANNUAL REPORT. The annual report stated inter alia:— Two senior competitions were played during the year on Wednesdays and Satur? days, the Collegiate Club winning both competitions. The play off for the Dey Cup was between Collegiate and Western Star of the Western District Sub-Association.. Collegiate again registering a win. The Collegiate Club is to be congratulated on its success for the year. During the year the association was pleased to accept affiliation of two new clubs, Hedgehope and Fortrose. The Junior competition was won by High School. There was no competition for Primary Schools, although an attempt was made early in the season to arouse some interest in the schools.

The annual tournament for the year 1926 was granted to the Southland Ladies’ Hockey Association. A special billeting committee and a special tournament committee were formed to make the necessary arrangements for the championship tournament, and the association is very grateful for the valuable assistance given by these committees.

The tournament commenced in Invercargill on August 28 and continued until September 4. The tournament was well supported by the public of Southland and was in every respect the most successful one ever held in New Zealand. The following teams competed: Ruahine, Wellington, Canterbury, South Canterbury, Eastern (2), Otago and Southland (2). The tournament was played in two sections, Ruahine being winner of one and Southland of the other. In the final for the “K” Cup Southland A. drew with Ruahine, the score being one all. The Southland team is to be congratulated on its meritorious performance. The “K” Cup and Floyd Shield were to be held by the two teams six months each. The Southland team allowed the Ruahine team to take away the “K” Cup for the first six months, and their action in doing so was met with general approval. The “K” Cup is back in Southland again and will be held by Southland until the next tournament.

The South Island won the North v. South Island match by one goal to nil and the following are to be congratulated who played in this match: Misses H. Horner, H. Ashley, E. Melvin, W. Clark, O. Bell and R. Burt. The Gordon Cup was won by Otago. The Millie Memorial Cup for the 100yds. N.Z. Ladies’ Hockey Championship was won by Miss Swinburne, of Wellington team.

The gate takings for the final match constituted a record for the tournaments and the total receipts were also a record. Upon the winding up of tournament affairs the committee was in a position to distribute the sum of £2ll 9/5 to the associations who took part. The association desires to thank all who contributed to the success of the tournament especially Mr Gilfedder the energetic tournament secretary who spared neither time nor efforts to make it a success.

When it was decided by the New Zealand Association that the tournament was to be held at Invercargill the Southland Association organised a Queen Carnival to rais.e funds to entertain the visiting hockey players and for other purposes. The Queen Carnival was a financial suc-
