The Duke and Duchess of York visited West Maitland and Singleton for a few minutes en route to Queensland, and received addresses of welcome. Last night was spent on the train. THE PRINCESS BETTY. MOTOR TRIP TO WINDSOR. ENTHUSIASTIC GREETING BY CROWD. London, April 5. When their Majesties the King and Queen left Buckingham Palace in a motor for Windsor they had Princess Betty in the car with them. The crowd was obviously anxious to obtain a glimpse, and the nurse held her up. The Princess was equally as pleased as the crowd.—A. and.N.Z. (Rec. 5.5 p.m.) London, April 4. As the car with the Princess Elizabeth appeared at the gates of the Palace, women in the crowd raised the delighted cry, “There’s our Betty.” The Princess was dressed in white woollies and seated on the knees of her nurse beside Lady Ampthill. When the nurse held the baby up the crowd cheered loudly. The Princess has won all hearts in Buckingham Palace with her pretty looks and winning w'ays. Mrs Bill, the Queen’s old nurse, is especially devoted to Betty.—A. and N.Z.
