DOMINION CONFERENCE
COMMERCIAL TRAVELLERS. (Per United Press Association.) Auckland, April 4. The Dominion Conference of the New Zealand Commercial Travellers’ Association opened to-day. Mr A. Thompson, president, said Britain was making a wonderful recovery from her time of trial and to-day in industrial and commercial circles a feeling of hopefulness had revived. He asked members of the association to do their bit in reviving the spirit of hopefulness here. Every effort should be made to dispel the spirit of pessimism which was largely responsible for the present depression in trade, to develop cheerfulness and optimism and to see that the dawn of a brighter day in business was not long delayed. A special report dealing with assistance to blind soldiers and sailors stated that since the last conference, blind soldiers had been assisted to the extent of £778. The total income amounted to £lB2l 9/9. The amount of the fund at present was £5732 5/11, of which £5507 was invested.
The Conference decided to affirm the principle of a united charity day throughout the Dominion.
It was decided to hold the 1928 Conference in Wellington. The following officers were elected—President of United Association, Mr S. E. James; treasurer. Mr H. H. Wauchop; auditor, Mr H. Bicknell; member for Board of Management of Insurance Department, Mr W. A. Drake; members of Committee of Association Journal, Messrs W. A. Drake and S. A. Orchard.
