LUMSDEN NOTES

(From Our Correspondent.) The tennis match Lumsden v. Balfour was played at the Lumsden courts on Saturday. The game created considerable interest and a large number of spectators including a large number of visitors from Balfour witnessed the various games. The match proved to be a close contest, Lumsden winning by 9 sets to 7, and 81 games to 75. The weather was fine and a good exhibition of tennis was given. The result of the match puts Lumsden in the lead for the Campbell Cup and with only one match left to play, are in a strong position for the premiership. The following are the scores, Lumsden names first:— LADIES’ DOUBLES. Miss Brotherston and Mrs Biggar 6 v. Mrs Wilson and Miss Sheed 3. Miss Belsham and Mrs McDonald 6 v. Members of the local Masonic Lodge paid a visit to Lodge Teviot at Roxburgh on Saturday. The party which comprised members from Dipton, Lumsden and Balfour numbered about forty and left by motors on Saturday morning, The function was held in the evening and the return journey was made the following day. An enjoyable trip was experienced.
