AUCKLAND-BLUFF SERVICE.

To the Editor. Sir, —The present time is more opportune to draw attention to the very unsatisfactory position of the Auckland to Bluff Cargo Service. The Wingatui which left Auckland on the loth inst., and was originally due at Bluff on the 22nd. inst., has not yet arrived. The Union Steam Ship Company must surely admit that over fourteen days between the two ports is altogether out of all reason, and the business firms of Southland must impress upon them that this unsatisfactory state of affairs is not going to be tolerated. The Wingatui is bringing quite a number of seasonable lines for the local market, and the unnecessary time taken on the coast is detrimental to the interests of Southland.—l am etc., MERCHANT.
