DRUIDS LODGE

MEETING AT GORE. (From Our Correspondent.) The Gore Druids’ Lodge on Friday night last was honoured by the presence of the Grand Lodge officers of Otago and Southland, in the persons of G.P. Bro. Ivan Oliver, G.V.P. Bro. A. Sherborne, A.D. Bro. Childs, Acorn Lodge, and P.A. Bro. McLeod, secretary of the Pride of Mataura Lodge. These brethren were welcomed in true Druidic manner by a large gathering of local Druids. After a large amount of business was dealt with, one candidate was initiated into the bonds of Druidism and one new member was proposed. The Druids’ team was congratulated on its success in winning the Fire Brigade’s cup at the recent card tournament. G.P. Bro. Oliver thanked the Lodge for its hearty welcome, and gave a very interesting account of the work of the Grand Lodge in the past and what it hoped to accomplish in the future. He also conveyed the Grand Lodge’s thanks to PA. Bro. McLeod for the noble way he had worked for the order in the forming of the Pride of Mataura Lodge. An interesting address was given by G.V.P. Bro. Sherborne on the general doings of Druidism m Otago and outhland. Before adjourning a hearty vote of thanks was passed to the visiting brethren, who had journeyed from Clinton, Mataura and Invercargill, for the practical interest shown by their presence that evening.
