KILLED BY TRAM

CHRISTCHURCH ACCIDENT. (Per United Press Association.) Christchurch, October 28. Fatal injuries were inflicted upon Wilder Barn- Fox on Saturday by a Riccartonbound tramcar when Fox was attempting to catch a city-bound cy. An inquest was conducted before Mr H. P. Lowry, to-day. The evidence was that Fox ran out of a cricket ground gate with his hand held up to stop a city-bound car. The motorman of the outward car, which was approaching sounded his bell loudly and continuously, but Fox was apparently oblivious that a second car was approaching from the other direction. The motorman applied the brakes, but too late to avert an accident. If Fox had taken another step forward he would have been clear of both trams. The Coroner found that no blame was attachable to the motarman.
