ROYAL SHOW

RECORD OF ENTRIES. TOTAL OF 1297. ALL DISTRICTS REPRESENTED. A return of entries for the Royal Show, which will be held in Auckland on November 16, 17, and 18, has been supplied by the show committee to the Auckland Star. The list totals 1297, as compared with 532 for the last Auckland Show. The entries

Through the rush of entries in the cattle, sheep and pigs classes, the accommodation has been found inadequate, and instructions have been given for the erection of a number of temporary sheds on the Epsom showground, in addition to the two large permanent structures that have just been completed. There will be eight permanent sheds for stock of all kinds, and temporary sheds will be built around the fences or wherever they can be placed. In a statement, the president (Mr W. F. Massey) said that the.lndustrial Association and other organisations were giving the Royal Show Committee their unanimous support to make the period of the Royal Show a carnival week. Visitors could be assured of a generous welcome. On Monday, November 15, the North Shore suburbs would tender all visitors a full day’s reception and entertainment, and the week’s round of pleasure would be concluded by the Otahuhu Trotting Club’s Meeting.

Mr Massey made special mention of the support that had been given by the farmers and breeders of pedigree stock. The entries included prize-winning stock from Wellington, Taranaki, and Hawke’s Bay districts, and also from the principal South Island breeders. Canterbury and Hawke’s Bay districts had entered a preponderance of sheep; and the entries in the stud sheep classes had exceeded all expectations. Some additional entries were still expected by the delayed mails from the South Island.

“I can say that the success of the Royal Show, from an agricultural standpoint, is absolutely assured,” concluded Mr Massey.
