GISBORNE TRAMS

THE RECENT POLL. DECLARED NULL AND VOID. (Per United Press Association.) Gisborne, October 23. The recently taken tramway poll, whereby it was decided to scrap the borough trams, was ' declared null and void in a decision*given by Mr E. C. Levy, S.M., today. After the poll a petition was lodged alleging various irregularities, the principal one, was that the poll was held under the 1925 Act when it should have been held under the Act passed only a day previous to the taking of the poll. ■ The Court, in its judgment, said that there was failure to observe the statutory requirements, and that such irregularity materially affected the result of the poll.
