PARLIAMENT OPENS. PROTECTION FOR FOREIGNERS. Cairo, June 11. At the Parliamentary inauguration there was a peaceful speech from the Throne. The Government intends to enforce respect for the Constitution and to safeguard the rights of foreigners. It especially aims to re-establish cordial Anglo-European relations. There was enthusiastic applause when it was announced that Egypt had not abandoned her claims to the Sudan. Zaghlul Pasha has been elected President of the Chamber.—A. and N.Z. EGYPT AND LEAGUE. Cairo, June 11. King Fuad opened Parliament. The -Speech from the Throne, read by Adly Pasha, was a masterpiece of ambiguity. He said steps would be taken for the admission of Egypt to the League of Nations. —A. and N.Z.
