HOPEFUL OUTLOOK
CHINA AND FOREIGNERS. BEATING DOWN COMMUNISM. Hongkong, March 28. The Governor, addressing the Chamber of Commerce, announced that the Canton Government was not prepared to appoint three members to negotiate with three Hongkong officials for a settlement of the boycott. The Governor agreed to the proposal and hoped negotiations would lead to an honourable and lasting settlement. He added it seemed the sane, commonsense Cantonese people were at last beating down Communism and establishing law and order. He regarded the outlook as more hopeful than at any time since June.—Sun Cable.
