EARTHQUAKE IN CHINA

TOWNS DESTROYED. THIRTEEN HUNDRED DEATHS. (By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright.) MELBOURNE, June 11. The Australian Council of the China Inland Mission has received word from the Talifu of a devastating earthquake, which completely wrecked that town. Some 1300 were killed and a large number rendered homeless. Fire broke out in many quarters. All the buildings were destroyed. The foreign community suffered no bodily injury, and the members are returning to Yunnan-fu.
