SPIRIT PHOTOGRAPHY
- A WANGANUI MYSTERY. WANGANUI, April 28. Are there such things as spirit photographs? Most people would be sceptical, but some explanation still awaits an incident that occurred in Wanganui recently. A visitor to Wanganui Hospital tock a snap in a small camera of one of the child inmates there. The film was developed by a well-known photographic firm in the city and it was then found that in the background of the photograph ,was a welldefined woman’s form with the face clearly outlined. It was a puzzling matter, as there was no woman in the vicinity of the child when the photograph was taken, and, further, the identity is a mystery. The strange photograph has naturally caused a great deal of interest. One lady who inspected it this morning declared that the woman’s hair was done up in a fashion that was in vogue about 15 years ago. It was an interesting observation, but has thrown no further light on the matter. It is more than passing strange. Mr M. Lampe, the photographer who developed the film, said that at first he thought it had been a case of double exposure, but had since satisfied himself that no woman was present at the time the snap \ taken. Beside the picture of the small boy patient is clearly defined the form of a woman, with arms outstretched, leaning over the bed as if to take hold of the little patient. Mr Lampe states that the features of the woman are much smaller in comparison with those of the boy, and so far cannot be identified as any person residing in Wanganui, and the face bears no likeness to that of any relatives of the family.—Dunedin Star.
