GERMAN SHIPBUILDERS’ HOPES. (By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright). (Sun Cable.) LONDON, March 15. The Daily Mail says that Germany hopes by mass production and cheap labour to become the world’s shipbuilding centre. The Deutsche Werke Company obtained a contract worth £1,000,000 from Furness, Withy and Co., to build six motor ships at Kiel, where the company has taken over the Government shipyards and arsenals, employing 200,000 men, many of whom are ex-Government technical experts.
