JAPAN’S BUDGET

STRICT ECONOMY THE POLICY. (Reuter’s Telegrams) TOKIO, January 22. The Minister of Finance (Mr Hamaguehi), in his Budget speech in the Diet, stated that strict economic and financial adjustment continued to be the policy of the Government. The curtailment of the expenditure in 1924 totalled 000,000 yen, while in 1925 the figures would show a reduction of 91,000,000 yen on the revised expenditure of 1924. The Minister announced that, with a view to remedying the exchange position, special reserves would be released as the occasion demanded, and efforts made to improve the trade situation, for which the necessary Bills would be introduced into the Diet.
