NEW YEAR MESSAGE
FROM THE PRIME MINISTER. MH MASSEY OPTIMISTIC. OUTLOOK FOR NEW ZEALAND PRODUCE. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, December 24. The Prime Minister has issued the following New Year message to the people of the Dominion:— For the new year New Zealand’s prospects are decidedly encouraging. The high prices obtained for our wool at recent sales must have brought considerable gratification not only to growers, but to the people in general of the Dominion. Coupled with these fine sales of our wool is the very healthy tone in the markets for almost all of our other primary products. There is justification, therefore, for our looking fonvard with renewed confidence to a prosperous year. The people of the Dominion, and particularly the farming community, have had trying periods, but they faced them stoically, and now they have the satisfaction of feeling ha|>py in the bright turn of events, and in anticipation of their expectations being realised. There is no need for me to counsel caution. The bitter experience of the past will be remembered, and the profits from the present high prices which are being enjoyed for our products will be used in bringing back that stability which it has always been this country’s object to maintain. In a producing country like New Zealand the prosperity of the producers reflects on the whole community, and during Christmas this year and New Year, 1925, people should be signally happy and contented.
