SHOT IN A TAXI
FORMER RUSSIAN OFFICER. COMMUNIST CHARGED. (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) PARIS, December 23. The police are investigating an alleged murderous attack by Lany (a well-known Russian Communist) against Kleboff (an ex-Russian officer, who is now driving a taxi cab for a living). It is alleged that Lany engaged Kleboff’s taxi for a long drive in the suburbs, and that when it was passing a quiet park he shot Kleboff five times, and left him lying wounded in the roadway. Lany took the wheel himself, but he had to visit a garage owing to a breakdown. The mechanics became suspicious, and the police were called in. Lany, when arrested, said he had been charged with the duty of killing Kleboff.
